School of Nursing

MediCiti School of Nursing was started in July 1995. It is recognized by the Telangana Nurses and Midwives Council and by the Indian Nursing council. It offers a three-year course for diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. Sixty students are admitted each year. All the prescriptions of INC, in terms of infrastructure and faculty are available in the school and regularly upgraded from time to time. The training is designed to prepare students to practice professional nursing in advanced tertiary health care centers as well as rural community health programs. After graduation the students work as staff nurses for two years at MediCiti hospitals.

In Pursuance of the objectives in the area of education in medical and health allied sciences, a concrete step has been taken by establishing the Mediciti School of Nursing.

The college has an intake of 100 students per annum from the academic year 2023-24 and at present 231 students.

College of Nursing

MediCiti College of Nursing derives its lineage from SHARE (Science and Health care Allied Research and Education), a philanthropic foundation dedicated to community service through health care delivery at grass root level. MediCiti College of Nursing is co-promoted by "SHARE MEDICAL CARE FOUNDATION"

MediCiti College of nursing has been established in 2006 and it is affiliated to KNRUHS. and Recognized by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.

MediCiti College of nursing offers BSc Nursing 4 years Degree Course.

The college has an intake of 100 students per annum from the academic year 2023-24 and at present 231 students.

Aims and Objectives of the School and College of Nursing :

1. Practice as a nurse with the competence to: assess the nursing needs of individuals, families and communities throughout life, from birth to death. Plan appropriate action to meet their needs through efficient and effective nursing care. Work with other members of the health team and the community in promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and rehabilitation. Evaluate effectiveness of nursing and health care activities. .

2.Apply relevant knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in carrying out health care and nursing activities.

3. Show sensitivity and skill in human relationships and communication in daily work.

4. Demonstrate skill in the use of problem solving methods in nursing practice.

5. Gain knowledge of health resources in the community and the country.

6. Demonstrate leadership skills in working with the health team, community and others, in the provision of health care.

7. Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to professional behavior.

8. Demonstrate in self-awareness and ability of self evaluation in personal and professional life.

9. Develop a sense of commitment.

10. Prepare and promote exchange of nursing education and service with other countries.

11. Develop skills in teaching formally and informally in class-room setting, in clinical area and in the community field.

12. Develop and demonstrate benevolent leadership qualities of integrity, responsibility, and understanding and take right decision in various situations.

13. Practice ethical values in personal and professional life.

Admission procedure :

50% of the allotted seats come from Government Quota and the balance 50% is for the management to fill.
Each Management quota application will be considered by the college selection committee with respect to the following:

- Marks obtained in 10+2 examination or equivalent.
- Performance at a personal interview
- Health status
- Exceptional aptitude in extra- curricular activities.

Government (University) Quota Seats will be filled by the KNRUHS.

Qualifications:

a). should have passed the Intermediate examination with Biology, Physics, and chemistry as optional subjects or Intermediate vocational Nursing examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate examination, TS or any examination recognized as equivalent there to.
b). Should have secured not less than 50% of marks in optional subjects of the Intermediate examination or equivalent examination.
c). In case of SC /ST candidates it shall not be less than 45% of marks.
d). Minimum age for admission shall be 17 years and should have not be more than 25 years as on 31 st December of the academic year of admission. Upper age limit shall be relaxed by 3 years in case of SC/ ST candidates.
e). Physical fitness must be ensured by certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

Duration of the course:

The course in BSc Nursing will be of four years duration.

Syllabus and general outline of the course will be as prescribed by Indian Nursing Council, and Examination Board for BSc Nursing KNRUHS. Medium of Instruction will be English.

Facilities :

Mrs. S Hymavathi, MSc N is the Principal of College of Nursing. The institute of nursing is maintaining full fledged, well qualified & competent teaching faculty as per the norms of Indian Nursing Council.

The college have well equipped labs for Fundamentals of nursing, Community Health Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Maternal & Child health nursing, and computer and Nutrition.

All the class rooms are well ventilated & spacious with adequate teaching aids.

A MediCiti College of nursing has a central Library with adequate number of books and Journals and an internet room having 10 computers with net connection.

The College of Nursing has MediCiti Hospital (MIMS) clinical attachment. The hospital is a teaching one with a Medical College (approved by MCI) of 100 students intake per annum, and has bed strength of 700.

To have a College & hospital of this dimension as medical attachment is an exclusive advantage for any nursing institute.

Students are accommodated in a safe and homely hostel within the hospital campus, provided with a well managed kitchen and potable water through R.O plants.

Facilities :

After completion of the course the students will have the opportunity to work as Staff nurses, Tutors, Asst Lecturers in the same institute or they have many opportunities across the global.
